If you’ve had the pleasure of staying at Brimstone Hotel at Langdale you’ll know it’s pretty cool. So when last week it was included in The Times Cool Hotel Guide it was no surprise to those
Cool as a descriptive word isn’t usually used in the same sentence as the Lake District. More often than not, it’s along the lines of quaint or picturesque that are heard more. But the Lake District, especially when it comes to accommodation, be it self catering properties, B&B’s or hotels, is most definitely getting cooler.
From cool and quirky self catering properties like The Brew House at Maulds Meaburn near Penrith, a stylish, small but performed bolt hole for 2 that has been cleverly converted to the uber cool, all singing, all dancing Brimstone Hotel, the Lake District is most definitely taking cool seriously.
Tom Chesshyre, The Time journalist who wrote the review of Brimstone for the Cool Hotel Guide opened the article with the following statement: “With Berghaus walking kit on tap, free wine and a light setting called ‘tinkle’, this boutique hotel is WAG heaven”.
The reference to WAG’s is due to a recent grasp by the footballing community to Brimstone which is surely down to the location, the sleekness, now the confirmed coolness and most definitely the secure, basement car park for the Bentley GT Continental or similar.
But it has to be said that being a hotel built by and on The Langdale Estate, Brimstone is most definitely somewhere us normal folk can go and feel very comfortable doing so. Yes, it’s probably going to be a place you’d go to mark a special occasion, rooms start at £250, but that is not out of the way for what is on offer at Brimstone and quite comparable to other boutique hotels in the Lake District. The offer of a 20% discount when booking 30 days or more in advance is well worth taking advantage of and it’s the kind of place you would want to book for maximum excitement. Remember, what other hotel in the Lake District can guests hire, for free, the latest Berghaus gear and enjoy free beer and wine, ooh and cakes!
Rooms at Brimstone can only be booked direct either by phoning of visiting https://www.brimstonehotel.co.uk
